While many are just discovering who Sofia Pernas is after pictures of her kissing Justin Hartley surfaced last week, the actor has long known about her — she's supposedly good friends with his soon-to-be ex-wife.

A source tells The Sun that Sofia and Chrishell Stause, who married Justin in 2017 after three years of dating, were 'close friends for years' after meeting on the set of 'The Young and the Restless' in 2016.

In fact, The Sun notes that the women often communicated on social media, 'liking' and commenting on each other's pictures. The last correspondence took place in February when Chrishell liked a photo of Sofia working out in Thailand with a sword.

Justin even appeared on Sofia's Instagram page in 2016.

Over the past week, multiple outlets have quoted sources stating that the 'This Is Us' star and Sofia are dating, confirmation which comes after they were seen kissing on May 29 while she dropped him off outside the Southern California Orthopedic Institute.

Justin and Chrishell's divorce was rather shocking, as the duo seemed happy and had been seen together at a Golden Globes party just one week prior. Just one day before the filing, Chrishell, who stars on the Netflix show 'Selling Sunset,' was wearing her ring.

In his Nov. 22 filing, Justin listed their separation date as July 8, 2019. In Chrishell's official response, she listed their separation date as Nov. 22, essentially saying they split the moment he filed, not months before as he indicated.

It's believed that the separation date squabble has to do with money. In December 2019, TMZ wrote, 'the tea leaves point to some sort of [financial] deal Justin may have and [Chrishell] believes he just doesn't want her to get a piece.'

During a scene on 'Selling Sunset' last month, Chrishell indicated that she was blindsided by the divorce filing.
